Landlords accreditation scheme
Service outline:
It is intended to help households to take up tenancies in the private rented sector. It offers a guarantee to landlords for justifiable claims against damage to, or theft from, the landlord's property and rent arrears at the end of the initial term of the tenancy up to a maximum of £800.
Who can apply?
People who are homeless or threatened with homelessness will have priority. They must be over 16, on welfare benefits or have a low income, have a local connection with the Ribble Valley, capable of independent living (or receiving support to help them do so) and be unable to afford their own deposit.
How do I apply?
An application form can be obtained from the Homelessness Officer at the Council Offices, Church Walk , Clitheroe, BB7 2RA.
What happens then?
The completed form, and supporting documentation, should be returned to the Homelessness Officer who will then arrange to interview you. If you are accepted onto the Scheme, you will be given a letter confirming this. You can then contact landlords to find a suitable property. Some landlords will already be aware of and signed up to the scheme. If not, RVBC will contact the landlord to explain the scheme and sign them up. We also check that the property is suitable.
Calling All Landlords
If you are a landlord or interested in becoming one in the Ribble Valley, you can sign up to the Tenancy Protection Scheme in advance of a prospective tenant who is eligible under the scheme coming to you. If you would like to discuss the scheme, please contact the Homelessness Officer at the Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe, BB7 2RA.
