The Little Green Bus
The Little Green Bus (previously known as the Ribble Valley Rider) is the flexible bus service that gives access to and from some of the more remote villages in the Ribble Valley. The Little Green Bus runs without a fixed route and timetable which means it has the flexibility, within a designated area, to offer a door to door service.
The Little Green Bus can be booked to serve Clitheroe Interchange for bus and rail connections and will serve local destinations by prior arrangement e.g. Clitheroe Hospital, Medical Centre, Booths Supermarket, the Grand Cinema and many more!
Anyone can become a member and use the Little Green Bus whether you are residents or visitors. The low floor bus we use is easily accessible and most wheelchair users, people with children in push chairs or with heavy shopping will also be able to travel with us.
Due to the licensing restrictions all passengers must become a member of Ribble Valley Community Transport. Membership is free and easy to arrange.
The bus also has a cycle rack with capacity for two bikes but please book in advance to reserve a space. To book the Little Green Bus call 01200 444484. The office is open on Monday to Friday between 9.00am-1.00pm. Please give 24 hours notice if possible. Outside office hours an answer service is available or alternatively please contact Clitheroe Interchange on 01200 429832.
Fares charged on the Little Green Bus are similar to other regular bus services and Lancashire County Council Concessionary passes are valid. The Ribble Valley Day Ranger ticket is also valid on this service.
The Little Green Bus is available for group hire when it is not required for its scheduled or pre-booked journeys.

Shopmobility
There is a shopmobility scheme that operates in Clitheroe from Cabin 1 on Clitheroe market. It is open on market days, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9.30am-4.00pm. The items may be available for hire outside these times/dates providing someone is around to open up.
The scheme works in conjunction with The Little Green Bus service where the resident calls for a bus and is collected and dropped off at the mobility centre, then collects the scooter and carries out their shopping or business, and upon completion the resident returns the scooter.
The scheme provides manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters to help people with limited mobility to shop and use the city centre facilities. It can be used by young or old no matter whether their disability is temporary or permanent. Shopmobility is available to residents and visitors alike. First time visitors need to register and be trained in the use of the vehicle. We also have a 'tramper' for hire which is an off road scooter that can be delivered to surrounding rural areas for a small charge.
The Cabin also sells items for the visually impaired. There is a small selection of goods on site and any orders for goods from the catalogue will be delivered to the cabin usually within 2 working days.
For further information please contact Simon O'Rourke on 07594 550130. Or visit Cabin 1 on Clitheroe Market on market days.

Community Car Schemes
Community Car Schemes are one of the most flexible forms of Community Transport and make a significant contribution to the movement of disabled and frail elderly people.
Community car drivers use their own vehicles to carry those unable to use conventional transport to pre-booked destinations, most frequently medical appointments, in exchange for a specified mileage charge. An escort may travel with a passenger for a charge.
Passengers book a journey in advance with the scheme Co-ordinator who matches up the travel requirement with the drivers available.
The volunteer driver picks up the client from their home, takes them to their appointment and brings them back home.
