Ribble Valley Borough Council is responsible for collecting the Council Tax to pay for services provided by Lancashire County Council, the Borough Council, Lancashire Police Authority and Lancashire fire Authority.

Ribble Valley Borough Council is also responsible for collecting the non-domestic rates, known as business rates. Business rates are the means by which businesses and others who occupy non-domestic property make a contribution towards the cost of local services.

This money, together with the revenue support grant provided by the Government and certain other sums, is used to pay for the services provided by Ribble Valley Borough Council and other local authorities in the area.
