School admissions
Service outline:
Lancashire County Council deal with admissions for Primary and Secondary schools.
Primary School
Children are not legally required to start school until the term following their fifth birthday. In Lancashire, however, all children who have their fifth birthday between 1 September 2011 and 31 August 2012 may start school in September 2011 if their parents / carers wish it.
To make the process of applying for a place as easy as possible, parents can apply online or complete a paper application form. Completed paper applications should be returned to your first preference Primary School.
Further information on Primary School admissions is available from Lancashire County Council.
Secondary School
Parents must express all their Secondary School preferences by either completing an on-line application or a paper application (not both). In addition a supplementary form may also be required by most Voluntary Aided Schools and Foundation Schools. This is not a legal requirement but must be completed if you want your application to be assessed against the schools admission policy.
Paper application forms should be returned to your child's Primary School by Sunday 31st October 2010 . Offers of school places will be issued to all applicants on 1st March 2011.
Further information on Secondary School admissions is available from Lancashire County Council.
