Water - private supply

Within Ribble Valley there are 271 private water supplies. Of these 139 serve more than one property and the remaining 132 supplies serve single properties.

The Council is responsible for ensuring compliance of these supplies with the required standards. To achieve this, a regular sampling programme has been formulated and introduced. This requires that all private water supplies serving more than one property and those serving commercial premises be sampled at least once every five years. The monitoring of supplies serving single residential premises are discretionary and are undertaken where possible within available resources.
