Shopmobility
Service outline:
There is a shopmobility scheme that operates in Clitheroe from Cabin 1 on Clitheroe market. It is open on market days, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 9.30am - 4.00pm. The items may be available for hire outside these times/dates providing someone is around to open up.
The scheme works in conjunction with The Little Green Bus (dial-a-bus) service where the resident calls for a bus and is collected and dropped off at the mobility centre, then collects the scooter and carries out their shopping or business, and upon completion the resident returns the scooter.
The scheme provides manual and powered wheelchairs and scooters to help people with limited mobility to shop and use the city centre facilities. It can be used by young or old no matter whether their disability is temporary or permanent. Shopmobility is available to residents and visitors alike. First time visitors need to register and training in the use of the vehicle will be provided. We also have a 'tramper' for hire which is an off road scooter that can be delivered to surrounding rural areas for a small charge.
The Cabin also sells items for the visually impaired. There is a small selection of goods on site and any orders for goods from the catalogue will be delivered to the cabin usually within 2 working days.
For further information please contact Simon O'Rourke using the details below or visit Cabin 1 on Clitheroe Market on market days.
