Licence - car boot sales
Service outline:
Under Section 37 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982:
- the operators of temporary markets/car boot sales; and
- any occupier of land who intends to permit the land to be used as the site of a temporary market or car boot sale,
is required to give the Council not less than one months notice of any intended market/sale.
Such notices should be sent to the Council's legal section at the Council Offices and marked for the attention of the Legal Services Manager.
A person who holds a temporary market, or permits land occupied by him/her to be used as the site of a temporary market, without giving the requisite notice will be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine of up to £2,500.
