Protection of Wildlife

Why Protect Wildlife?

The pressures on wildlife have become immense and indeed evidence suggests that since the 2nd World War a great deal has been lost in terms of variety and density.
This is due to a number of factors including:
  • loss of habitat - e.g. hedgerows, woodlands, wetlands through intensification of agricultural practices
  • poisoning - through increased use of pesticides and herbicides
  • development - for housing and roads
