Castle Charity Ball reduces scheme's shortfall further
Two Clitheroe families had every reason to celebrate recently following a fundraising success.
The Lloyds and Houldsworths organised what was billed as the town's biggest ever ball - and raised almost £20,000 for Charity, to be split between the Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme and the Joe Jaffe Support Charity at Pendlebury Children's Hospital.
The Castle Ball at Gisburn's Stirk House Hotel attracted a capacity attendance in excess of 300. It was a glittering black tie event following a three-course meal, guests were entertained by Clitheroe's Kit-Kat Girls with Hurst Green 'crooner' Charlie Bolton, comedian and impressionist Terry Webster and a disco.
Ian Lloyd acted as auctioneer with more than 18 lots. Several of the lots attracted bids of around £1,000 after fierce bidding.
A cheque for £9,300 was more recently presented to the heritage scheme's champion Mr Peter Robinson by Ian Lloyd and John Houldsworth at the launch of the Castle Keep Project.
