Traders rise to the Castle Challenge
Members of Clitheroe Chamber of Trade were quick off the mark after the High Sheriff of Lancashire issued a fundraising challenge in aid of the Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme.
Within a month of issuing the challenge, Clitheroe Chamber of Trade has stepped forward with the first cheque.
Peter Robinson said: "The Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme is the most exciting and ambitious heritage project in the North West and I can't stress how important the support of every level of the community is to us.
"We are extremely grateful to the Clitheroe Chamber of Trade for this generous donation so soon after we launched the challenge."
Members of Clitheroe Chamber of Trade presented the cheque to Peter Robinson at a meeting of the Keepers of the Castle Group, the community wing of the Clitheroe Castle Heritage Scheme, which is spearheading the £500 Challenge.
Further details of the £500 Challenge are available from Rebecca Kay, Ribble Valley Borough Council's tourism and arts officer on 01200 414496.
