The Ribble Valley has some of the most important and beautiful countryside in the north-west of England consisting of upland fells, lowland river valleys as well as woodlands, hedgerows and long standing traditional landscape features.

The importance of these areas are recognised by the fact that approximately two thirds of the Ribble Valley is included in the 'Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.
