Accidents in tree work

Working with trees can be very dangerous, accidents have occurred resulting in a fatality or permanent disability.  Make sure you do not feature in any future statistics. Every year there are on average five deaths due to accidents in tree work involving employees and self employed people. 

In addition a similar number of people are killed attempting to carry out tree work they are neither trained nor equipped to do. Below are areas of tree work you are advised not to attempt yourself, but to employ a professional tree contractor. This does not mean that you should attempt tree work not identified on this page.
