Sites of Special Scientific Interest
Introduction
Sites of Special Scientific Interest are the best examples of our natural heritage of wildlife habitats, geological features and landforms.
A Site of Special Scientific Interest is an area that has been notified as being of special interest under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
There are 14 sites within the Ribble Valley district that are designated in this way. They represent some of the country's very best wildlife and geological sites.
