Ribble Valley Core Area

As part of the Highways Partnership Agreement with Lancashire County Council, Ribble Valley Borough Council manage the Public Rights of Way in the Ribble Valley 'Core Area' which consists of the following parishes:

  • Balderstone
  • Billington & Langho
  • Chatburn
  • Clayton le Dale
  • Clitheroe
  • Dinckley
  • Dutton
  • Gisburn
  • Great Mitton
  • Horton
  • Hothersall
  • Little Mitton
  • Longridge (Alston & Dilworth)
  • Mellor
  • Newsholme
  • Osbaldeston
  • Paythorne
  • Ramsgreave
  • Ribchester
  • Salesbury
  • Sawley
  • Thornley with Wheatley
  • Whalley
  • Wilpshire
  • Wiswell

The Core Area contains 595 km of Public Rights of Way and is supplemented by Permissive routes, Greenways and Unclassified County Roads (UCR's).

Much of the network gives access to the beautiful Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
