Tree Preservation Order (TPO)

Trees in Conservation Areas

Are trees in conservation areas protected?

If a tree in a conservation area is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) the usual protection applies.

If a tree is not protected by a TPO but is in a conservation area and has a three inch or wider diameter trunk, then it is protected and you must give six weeks notice to carry out any work to the tree.

You will either be given permission or a TPO will be served giving the tree or trees complete protection.

Can a Tree in an Conservation Area be Pruned or Felled?

Yes - if it is justifiable, and in which case you will be given written permission.
