Local development orders were introduced with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 and allow local authorities to extend permitted development rights for certain forms of development with regard to a relevant local development document.

The Lancashire Advanced Engineering and Manufacturing Enterprise Zone (Samlesbury) Local Development Order No 1 (2012)

In September 2013 Ribble Valley Borough Council received a consultation document relating to the Samlesbury Enterprise Zone Consultation Master Plan which is also being submitted to South Ribble Borough Council for agreement to go out to public consultation.
