ABOUT LONGRIDGE HERITAGE TRAILS

The Longridge Heritage Trails were devised in 2001 by the Longridge Heritage Committee assisted by the Longridge & District Local History Society and funded by Ribble Valley Borough Council. A leaflet - designed by the Heritage Trust for the North West - is available free from Clitheroe Tourist Information Centre and selected venues in Longridge, including the Library.

A pack of five walks around Longridge, which take in the countryside around the town is also available from Clitheroe Tourist Information Centre. Telephone 01200 425566.

The two current short circular walks around this thriving small town are detailed with maps, click below.

Longridge Heritage Committee

Following on from the success of the Longridge Heritage Trails, the Committee has developed a 'History of Longridge Display' which will form the basis of a permanent exhibition. Initially, the display has been moved between different venues in the town of Longridge and the surrounding area including Ribble Valley Council Offices, Blackburn Cathedral, The Royal Lancs Show & the Ribchester Roman Museum.

The actual physical display has been assembled with the expert assistance and advice of the County Museum Service, the Heritage Trust for the North West and Ribble Valley Borough Council.

With regard to this, the Committee would like to hear from anybody who would like to contribute to the exhibition in the form of old photographs, written or printed material, which depicts the history of Longridge. The main areas of interest are the quarries, railway, mills, schools, churches and the water supply.

If you would like to contribute or you have any suggestions for further venues, please contact:
