Council Publishes Annual Report

RIBBLE Valley Borough Council has published its 2009 annual report.

The 20-page report sets out the business of Ribble Valley Borough Council in clear easy-to-understand language, outlining what the authority has achieved in the past year and its plans for the future.

It includes sections on how the council is run, council services, finances and performance, and sets out the council's ambitions. It also incorporates interesting facts and figures about Ribble Valley, as well as statements from appreciative customers.

Ribble Valley Borough Council Leader Michael Ranson said: "From the completion of the £3.5million refurbishment of the Clitheroe Castle Museum Complex - on target and to budget - to the final roll-out of the borough's recycling and refuse collection service, the council has been at the forefront of some groundbreaking work.

"Ribble Valley residents quite rightly expect high levels of service and our dedicated staff have proved time and again that they are willing to go the extra mile for our customers. In fact, the Government's 2009 Place Survey revealed that our residents were the most satisfied in the country.

"All this is good news, but we are not complacent. The coming years will be particularly difficult for local government, Ribble Valley Borough Council included. There will almost certainly be a reduction in Government funding and we will be looking carefully at how we can continue to provide high quality services in a period of financial constraint. This is a challenge we must and will meet, if we are to meet the expectation of our residents."

The report is available from the council's communications unit on 01200 414483 or from www.ribblevalley.gov.uk
