In BBC2's Country Tracks, Liz Bonnin and Ben Fogle crossed Cromwell's Bridge at Mitton, raised a flag at Clitheroe Castle, visited Pendle Hill and the "centre of the kingdom" at Dunsop Bridge.

They also took a nostalgic look at Downham Post Office and visited scenes from the hit film Whistle Down the Wind.

Rebecca Kay, Ribble Valley Borough Council's tourism and arts officer, said: "The programme was a fantastic showcase for Ribble Valley and illustrated what we all know, that it is a great place in which to live, work and visit."

Ribble Valley is no newcomer to the limelight. Her Majesty Queen has said in her official biography that she would like to retire to the Trough of Bowland, while last November the Daily Telegraph described the area as Britain's answer to the Dordogne!
