Wiswell Parish Council Community Governance Review Recommendations
Information on the Wiswell Community Governance Review
The Wiswell Parish Council asked Ribble Valley Borough Council to consider dividing the Parish of Wiswell into two parishes.
The Council therefore carried out a Community Governance Review. The views of residents of the current Wiswell Parish were sought. The Parish and County Council were also consulted.
The results of the consultation exercise were considered by the Council's Policy and Finance Committee at its 20 November 2012 meeting.
The Committee decided to adopt the recommendations at Appendix 7 of the Solicitor's report, for the reasons given at Appendix 7.
The Council has written to the County and Wiswell Parish Council and to the residents of the current Wiswell Parish with details of its recommendations and the reasons for these.
This therefore concludes the Community Governance Review for the Parish of Wiswell.
The Parish will now be split into two Parishes: a smaller Wiswell Parish and a new Parish of Barrow.
This process will not happen immediately. Committee has authorised the Council's Solicitor to take this matter forwards. She will work in conjunction with Wiswell's Parish Clerk, and with the requisite departments and officers at the Council, and externally, to take the practical steps necessary to achieve the split.
