Exciting craft and design work by new graduates from the North West is currently on show at the Platform Gallery, Clitheroe. The annual Laci exhibition features work by 15 artists who graduated from the North West's Universities last summer and are now taking their first steps to develop and exhibit their work.
Work includes amazing glass vessels by Catherine Carr, which are knitted or crocheted from glass fibre and then fired to high temperatures to produce a delicate and unique works of art.
There are also intricate constructed textiles by Sophie Aris, Mariana Cunningham and Ashley Millward (pictured), stunning silk printed lampshades by Faye Bolton as well as domestic ceramics by Liz Vidal.
The LACi group is a partnership of museums and galleries with a special interest in contemporary art and new design. Members include commercial galleries and museums with their own art and design collections. Over a hundred artists and makers have exhibited with LACi over the eight years of our development. Many have gone on to make successful careers in the craft and design world, so why not come and have a look and even grab yourself a unique piece of artwork by an up and coming name?
The ceramics and glass elements of the exhibition will tour to:
Towneley Hall Art Gallery and Museum, Burnley, 19 Mar - 7 May
Haworth Art Gallery, Accrington, 21 May - 26 June
Supported by Arts Council England and Lancashire County Council.
