The Platform Gallery is situated in the historic market town of Clitheroe in the heart of the Ribble Valley and is run by Ribble Valley Borough Council. The gallery is located in a prime position in the old railway station building, built in 1870. The gallery was awarded an Arts Lottery Grant in 2001 and was fully refurbished to provide an airy contemporary craft exhibition space, shop and education facilities.
The Platform Gallery hosts six main exhibitions per year, including solo, group and themed shows. Our emphasis is on high quality, original craftwork. We also exhibit work from Arts Development Projects and local craft groups in our Education Gallery.
There are no other specialised contemporary craft venues in Lancashire. Our venue provides the county with a vital showcase for top local and national makers. The Platform Gallery receives approximately 30,000 visitors a year, supporting up to 200 creative industries.Some comments from our visitors' book:
