The Current Mayor

The current Mayor is Councillor Richard Sherras.

Born: Derbyshire
Former member of then Belper Rural District Council (now Amber Valley District Council)
Worked as a designer and draughtsman at Rolls Royce in Derby
Former Deputy Leader of Ribble Valley Borough Council
Post-retirement he was the general manager of the debt counselling charity

I live in Rimmington and support Rimmington FC, who recently won the West Riding FA Challenge Cup.

I also enjoy walking and foreign travel. Some of the countries that I have visited include Mongolia, the Gobi Desert, the Andes and Ethiopia.

The charities I am supporting as Mayor are Soldiers', Sailors', Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA), and Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.
