Ribble Valley's New Gender Equality Scheme

Ribble Valley Borough Council is committed to the principles of equality and fairness for the borough's citizens and its staff.

As part of this commitment, the council has developed a Gender Equality Scheme in accordance with the Gender Equality Duty 2007, which requires all public authorities to:

* Eliminate unlawful discrimination and harassment on the grounds of sex

* Promote equality of opportunity between men and women

The scheme enhances the gender equality section of the council's comprehensive equality policy.

Comments on the scheme are invited before March 12 2010. All comments will be taken into account prior to the presentation of the final scheme to the council's personnel committee on March 17 2010.
