Aqua Alice - The Ribblesdale Pools Underwater Witch
A mosaic design created by Edisford Primary School and the artist Janette Ireland that can be seen by all swimmers at the Ribblesdale Pool.
Aqua Alice was the first underwater mosiac at a municipal pool in Lancashire it was installed into the Ribbelsdale swimming pool in 2008.
The mural, a "water witch," was designed by youngsters at Edisford Primary School, Clitheroe, and made by celebrated mosaic artist Janette Ireland from Lancaster.
Jeanette worked with years 4,5 and 6 at Edisford Primary School. The children made a drama video about the water cycle discovering where the water for the pool comes from. They drew underwater creatures and experimented with pebbles and other mosaic materials.
View the mosaic on the floor of the pool by having a swim, don't forget your goggles!
