The Workshop Assistant assists the Workshop Manager in ensuring that all the Council's municipal vehicle fleet are maintained to a high standard and are available for daily work.  The maintenance is undertaken in the Council's vehicle workshop on the Salthill Industrial Estate, Clitheroe.


In order to be able assist and support the Workshop Manager with his responsibilities, you will have a minimum of 2 years of post qualification experience in the maintenance of municipal type vehicles & plant to include refuse collection vehicles, grounds maintenance equipment and hydraulic excavators.  Your knowledge and experience will include vehicle & plant diagnostic systems.  LGV category C & FLT driving licences are essential requirements, as is a National Craft Certificate in HGV maintenace (or equivalent or better).  A CPC in National Road Haulage Management and a VOSA recognised Certificate for LGV inspections would also be advantageous.


The Workshop Assistant should provide their own hand tools.


Whilst the working week is of 37 hours, it is applied with the flexibility to ensure that vehicles are available for the use as necessitated by the service.
