Ribble Valley Borough Council

Don't Miss Out on Your Vote

Published Tuesday 29th September 09

Ribble Valley residents are being warned not to miss out on their vote at the next General Election.

Although the General Election has yet to be called, Ribble Valley Borough Council's electoral registration team is already working hard to ensure that all eligible voters can have their say on polling day.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has to call a General Election by June 2010, although he could do so earlier.

Canvassers are in the process of distributing electoral registration forms to the borough's 30,000 homes for the 2009 Ribble Valley Register of Electors.

The forms contain the names of people aged 18 and over in each home and householders are asked to check if the details on the form are accurate, then sign it, seal it and return it to the council.

The council's electoral registration officer, Jane Horsfield, said: "We are asking householders to return their forms as soon as possible.

Don't lose your right to vote. Sign the form, seal it and send it back!" The deadline for registration is October 15 and anyone who has not received an electoral registration form is asked to contact the council's electoral registration team without delay on 01200 414411.
