Recycling and Refuse Collection - Recycling and Refuse Collection - Weather Update
Published Thursday 21st January 10
Ribble Valley's Borough Council's recycling and refuse collection service is returning to normal following severe disruption caused by the weather.
As the worst of the snow continues to thaw, most of the refuse collection service has returned to something like normal.
There are still a few properties - particularly in more remote locations and on higher ground - where our vehicles have not been able to gain access. We are sorry for the continuing inconvenience and our teams will do their best to restore your usual service a soon as possible.
The worst-affected rounds were the Friday rounds, but for the most part, the backlog has been caught up now.
This week's collection (week commencing Monday January 18) will be residual waste (burgundy bin) and mixed dry recyclables (blue bin) and will be on your normal collection day. Our teams will continue to collect accumulated side waste before reverting to normal arrangements the following week. (Exceptions will be made for properties that haven't had normal service restored yet!)
Looking ahead, we will review the events of the last four weeks to see if there are lessons to be learnt for the future, although most callers have acknowledge that the circumstances have been exceptional.
We will also be working with our contractor to restore normal paper collection services as quickly as possible.
The Council and our staff would like to thank you for your forbearance over this period.
