Ribble Valley residents are invited to “go the extra mile” for a good cause on Sunday, March 21.
Ribble Valley Borough Council has joined forces with Sainsbury's Supermarket to host Sport Relief Mile at Clitheroe Castle .
Residents are being asked to walk, jog or run twice around the Clitheroe Castle Field, which is exactly a mile, or they can tackle three or six miles, instead. Races start at 11am and 12.30pm, and the entry price is £5 for adults, and £2 for children or senior citizens, with all proceeds going to disadvantaged children in the UK and abroad.
Tom Bamber, Ribble Valley
Borough Council's sports development officer, said: "Sport Relief Mile offers
everyone, from mums and toddlers to super sprinters, the chance to take part in
the biggest mile in history.
"We are looking forward to a great day and raising much needed cash to help vulnerable youngsters in the UK and across the world. We hope as many Ribble Valley residents as possible will take part."
Since its launch in 2002, over 1.25million people have taken part in Sport Relief Mile, helping to raise over £75million, among them David Walliams, who swam the English Channel, and Eddie Izzard's amazing marathon a day around the UK .
