Youngsters get in the Olympic spirit

Youngsters in Ribble Valley are invited to get in the Olympic spirit by signing up for a new fitness scheme.
Mountain-biking sessions are being run in conjunction with I Cycle Training and aim to teach new skills on off-road tracks such as Gisburn Forest with all equipment provided for the rider.
Free Friday night gym sessions are also up for grabs by 12 to 17-year-olds at the Freedom Fitness Room in Longridge, while numerous sessions, including badminton and basketball, are available at the Roefield Leisure Centre in Clitheroe for just £3.
Ribble Valley Borough Council's sports development officer, Tom Bamber, said: "Sportivate is part of the Olympic legacy and it is hoped participants will discover a sport that they are passionate about and can develop a long-term commitment to.
"It is never too late to take part in sport and enjoy its many benefits, and we are encouraging young people who are new to sport, or have let it fall by the wayside, to get in the Olympic spirit and join Sportivate."
