Ribble Valley Borough Council

Don't miss out on your vote

Published Friday 19th October 12

Ribble Valley residents wishing to vote in next month's election for a police and crime commissioner are advised that the last date to register as an elector is Wednesday, 31 October.

31 October is also the deadline for changes to existing postal or proxy votes, or to make a new application for a postal vote.

Police authorities in England and Wales were abolished in September 2011 in favour of directly elected police and crime commissioners in a move aimed at strengthening the relationship between the police and community.

The election will take place on 15 November and the new police and crime commissioner will take up post on 22 November, with responsibility for governing Lancashire Constabulary and holding its chief constable to account.

The 2012 Ribble Valley Register of Electors has now been compiled and anyone not included on it, for example those who have recently moved to the area, will have to make an application to vote.

This needs to be done by 5.00pm on 31 October and further details are available on how to vote by contacting 01200 425111.
