Clitheroe's Unique Shopping Experience
Published Thursday 13th December 12
East Lancashire residents are invited to a unique Christmas shopping experience featuring some of the North West's most accomplished artists.
The award-winning Platform Gallery in Clitheroe is hosting a series of artists' weekends in December, when shoppers can see craftspeople at work and buy unique pieces directly from them.
Each weekend will showcase the work of four top North West artists from 10.00am to 4.30pm on Saturdays and 11.00am to 3.00pm on Sundays.
Artists include Jan Lord, of Cow Ark Pottery, who crafts ceramic figures, animals and birds, for home and garden, and Liz Brookes, who weaves items by hand using traditional techniques and luxury yarns to wear or for the table.
The Platform Gallery is also hosting Winter Lux, a festive craft fair, until 12 January 2013, featuring a tantalising selection of handmade textiles, ceramics, glass, jewellery, lighting, decorations and cards.
Robert Thompson, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council's community services committee, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the North West's most talented and accomplished artists and craftspeople at work.
"Residents are invited to join us for an unforgettable shopping experience in a town famed for independent shops, arts and crafts, and quality produce."
Shoppers are reminded that parking charges are being waived for up to four hours at council-operated car parks in Clitheroe on Saturday, 15 and 22 December.
The Platform Gallery and Visitor Information Centre is in Station Road and further details are available at Christmas Craft Salls or call 01200 425566.
