Search for Sports and Community Stars

Published Friday 24th May 13

The search is on for Ribble Valley's sporting heroes and community champions.

Nominations for the 2013 Ribble Valley Sports and Community Awards are now open.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 5 July, and the awards will be presented at a ceremony at the Grand, Clitheroe, later in July.

Nominations can be made in the following categories: Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, Adult Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year and School of the Year. There are also special awards for Rising Star and Lifetime Achievement.

Chris Hughes, Ribble Valley Borough Council's head of cultural and leisure services, said: "The awards pay tribute to residents, young and old, who perform at the highest level of local sport, or dedicate their time tirelessly week in, week out, to support local clubs and facilities.

"They are a fantastic opportunity for community sports clubs, coaches and volunteers, to get the recognition they deserve for their hard work and commitment, and we are asking as many people, clubs and organisations as possible to make nominations."

The winners will represent Ribble Valley at the Lancashire Sports Awards in October.

Further information and nominations forms are available from Ribble Valley Sports and Community Awards or on 01200 425111.
