Clitheroe's Unique Festive Shopping Experience
Published Thursday 28th November 13
Festive shoppers are invited to a unique arts and crafts event in Clitheroe featuring the work of some of the North West's most accomplished artists.
The award-winning Platform Gallery in Station Road is hosting a series of pop-up art studios during December, where shoppers can see craftspeople at work and buy unique pieces directly from them.
Each week will showcase the work of four top artists from 1.00 to 5.00pm on Mondays, 9.00am to 5.00pm Tuesday to Friday and 10.00am to 4.30pm on Saturdays.
Artists include Anita Burrows, whose relief and intaglio prints, handmade books, portfolios, paper and hand-printed cards are inspired by the landscape around Pendle; Janet Browne, whose intricate folk-art-style hand-dyed and stitched maps, 3D birds and animals, and printed greeting cards and postcards are also inspired by the northern landscape, and Samantha Taylor, whose contemporary wirework jewellery features beads, vintage buttons and unique pieces of fused glass.
Robert Thompson, chairman of Ribble Valley Borough Council's community services committee, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity to see some of the North West's most talented and accomplished artists and craftspeople at work.
"Residents are invited to join us for an unforgettable shopping experience in a town famed for independent shops, arts and crafts, and quality produce."
Shoppers are reminded that parking charges are being waived for up to four hours at council-operated car parks in Clitheroe on Saturday 7, 14 and 21 December.
