Energy Awareness Event to Combat Heating Costs

Published Friday 17th January 14

Householders in Ribble Valley concerned about heating costs are invited to an energy awareness day in Clitheroe on 29 January.

The event, at the Ribble Valley Civic Suite in Church Street, will feature a raft of advice and information on money-saving measures, energy efficiency, fuel debt, energy switching, renewable energy and the insulation of hard-to-treat properties.

Information for community groups and village estates on funding for biomass district heating schemes will also be available.

And planning officers will be on hand with advice on any planning issues relating to energy-saving measures.

Exhibitors will include the Energy Hub, St Vincent's Housing Association, EcoLogicLiving, Isothane Ltd, Energy Switch UK Ltd, Ultraframe and sustainable living company LESS.

Ribble Valley Borough Council housing officer John Barber said: "The event will be of interest to anyone who spends more than 10 per cent of their income on heating their home, or cannot insulate their home, because they have hard-to-treat cavities, solid or non-standard walls.

"Energy specialists will be at hand to inform householders what they can do to ensure their home stays warm, energy-efficient, affordable to run and healthy to live in."

The event takes place from 10.00am to 4.00pm and further details are available from Ribble Valley Borough Council on 01200 425111.
