Main Gallery January 24 - March 7 2009
Delicate Matters

New work by artist Hillu Liebelt who presents a mixture of tapestries and textile sculptures, a new avenue for the artist in her attempts to move tapestry into a third dimension with delicate installation work. This series was made following a visit to Japan in 2006 and this is the first showing of the new work as it returns to the UK for a national tour. This touring exhibition was made possible by a generous grant from Arts Council England

Orchard - Edwina Bridgeman
A Brewery Arts Touring exhibition. Mixed media exhibition and installation that celebrates the importance of natural spaces. Viewers will be encouraged to participate with their own drawings, writings and poems which will be integrated into the exhibition as it tours.
Lancashire Arts and Crafts Initiative (LACi)
The annual showcase of craft and design for the cream of the North West's 2008 graduates. Supported by Lancashire County Council.

Skate-bored Exhibition

An exhibition of 'embroidered' skateboards' designed by young people from the Ribble Valley. A project in collaboration with the Turnpike Gallery, Leigh, Lancashire Youth Service and DIY Craft.

Bowland - An Inspirational Landscape

Part of Bowland Arts Festival in conjunction with Green Close Studios. Newly commissioned work in ceramics by Dawn Youll, plus a mixed exhibition of craftwork that responds to the unique environment that makes up the Forest of Bowland AONB. This festival has been developed and co-ordinated by Green Close Studios.

The Village Art Show
- A showcase exhibition of schools work created in the Lune Valley working with artists from Green Close Studios; re-inventing aspects of traditional village shows and our relationship with creativity, produce and environment.

 

Main Gallery June 27 - August 22
Botanic Gardens

This beautiful summer exhibition will feature work by over 20 makers from across the UK who explore plant forms and structures in their work. The exhibition will include works in metal, glass, ceramics and mixed media, as well as smaller scale works in jewellery.

New work by this Lancashire based textile group.
July 22 - 30  Not Your Nana's Knitting! .... A selection of contemporary textiles and fashion from students' final major project at Blackburn College (BTEC ND Textiles with Fashion course).

Platform Gallery Lancashire and Yorkshire Textiles Open 2009.

Building on the success our first Open in 2008, this exhibition will feature the best textile works from across the north of England. Entry forms available from 1 April. Submission fee will apply.
