Ribble Valley Open Prize-winner Exhibition, John McLaughlin

May 12 – June 4

In 2016 the Steward’s Gallery at Clitheroe Castle Museum held their annual Open Exhibition. Artist and sculptor John McLaughlin was awarded the Ribble Valley Prize for his energy filled wood carving of a salmon.

Longridge based John A McLaughlin, born 1975, has always had a love for art. Being self-taught he has explored various mediums and techniques in sculpture, painting and jewellery.

His sculptures have featured in many exhibitions such as the Paisley Art Institute exhibition, the Royal Glasgow Institute exhibition and the Macmillan art shows. He has also previously exhibited work in galleries across Scotland.

In his sculpture he tries to mirror the beauty of nature through sensuous curves and beautiful proportions found in the natural world.

Through the simplicity and rawness of his work he would like to rekindle deep, long forgotten memories which stir the soul and sooth the heart.

Exhibition featuring in the Platform's Education Gallery.
