The Council receive regular updates from Public Health England and are sharing key messages and advice across our website and social media channels, as well as with our staff.
Our senior officers are meeting weekly at a strategic and tactical level to ensure we are prepared to respond should Coronavirus be diagnosed in the borough.
In response to the Coronavirus, the Government announced there would be support for small businesses, and businesses in the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors.

Small Business and Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Grants
We are pleased that the Government have now issued guidance to local authorities to enable us to pay the Small Business Grant and the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant. The detailed guidance for these grants can be found on the Small Business Grant Fund and Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund Guidance.
We are currently writing out to all businesses that may be eligible for these grants asking for the information required in order that we can make payments as soon as possible. These letters have been posted to the same address as your 2020/21 business rates bill. Alternatively you can download a Business Rates Coronavirus Grant form April 2020.

We are hoping to receive funding from central Government on 1 April and will endeavor to make grant payments as soon as possible thereafter.
Expanded Business Rates 100% Discount 2020-21 for Retail, Leisure and Hospitality ratepayers.
The Government have announced a 100% Business Rates Discount for 2020-21 for certain ratepayers in the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality sectors. Detailed guidance can be found at Expanded Retail Discount 2020/21.
Those ratepayer who already receive a Retail Discount do not need to do anything as a revised bill will be issued to you in April. Further details about how to apply for the discount, for ratepayers not currently in receipt of the Retail Discount, will be posted here shortly.
Nursery Discount 2020/21
This relief will apply to hereditaments occupied by providers on Ofsted’s Early Years Register and wholly or mainly used for the provision of the Early Years Foundation Stage and which are subject to business rates in the year 2020/21. There will be no rateable value limit on the relief. Detailed guidance can be found at Nursery Discount 2020/21 Coronavirus Response. Ratepayers do not need to take any action at this stage as the relief will be automatically granted where possible and a revised bill issued in April.
Community Support for those affected by the Coronavirus

Ribble Valley Borough Council has set up a dedicated team to help the most vulnerable people in our community who are facing difficulties, worries and loneliness as a result of Coronavirus.

All committee meetings in the current committee cycle have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak. The position will be reviewed and any updates posted here.
Stepping Out Walks
We are suspending all Stepping Out walks. This decision is based on government guidance and in accordance with the councils own resilience plan. We have also been informed that the Ramblers will be suspending all their walks until further notice.
For your health and the health of our staff, Ribblesdale Pool is closed from Thursday 19 March, until further notice.
We are suspending all paper white sack collections until further notice.
The Platform Gallery will be closed until further notice.
Government Sets Out Plans to Enforce Closure of Businesses and Other Venues
- Businesses who do not follow COVID-19 restrictions will be issued with prohibition notices
- Businesses who fail to comply will receive fines and could also face the loss of their alcohol license
- There will be no upper limit to the fines of businesses who continue to ignore restrictions
Following Government guidance regarding coronavirus this office is closed to the public (except by appointment only) until further notice. Household Waste and Recycling Centres
Lancashire County Council have now closed all waste and recycling centres in an effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
All play areas are closed until further notice.
All council owned public toilets are closed until further notice.
