Clitheroe Town Council is seeking to recruit a Town Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer to replace the present postholder who is retiring at the end of August 2015.
He/She will be responsible for all managerial, administrative and financial operations of the Council. Accordingly, applicants must be able to demonstrate that they have managerial and financial experience at senior level, a sound knowledge of Local Government law and procedures.
The duties of the post include servicing the various meetings of the Town Council and of a number of other local Committees/Charities. Meetings are usually held in the evening with an average frequency of one every three weeks. Normal office hours are 9.00am to 1.00pm (20 hours per week) but pay is calculated on the basis of 21 hours per week to compensate for attendance at evening meetings. The post is not superannuated.
Applicants should also hold a relevant professional qualification, must be computer literate and must be able to show that they have, or can obtain, the Certificate in Local Council Administration.
