This is an opportunity to join the Council’s Pest Control and Dog Warden Service within the Environmental Health Section.
The key duties of the role will include investigation and treatment of public health complaints relating to rodents and insects, treatment of sewers for rodent control and investigation of complaints regarding dogs, including strays and dog fouling. You will also be key to the promotion of our pest control service, implementation of the department’s responsible dog ownership scheme, plus a variety of associated tasks.
Related qualifications and/or previous experience in pest control or dog handling would be advantageous but are not essential as appropriate training for the right person will be provided.
You will be able to demonstrate the skills needed to carry out the pest control work as well as a passion for working with dogs. You should possess excellent communication skills, and have a willingness to learn and develop new skills. You will also demonstrate maturity and be adaptable to work in a small team. You must be able to work on your own using your initiative to resolve problems and issues as they arise. You will need to be flexible in your approach to work.
