Act Fast: Further Funds to Help Businesses Recover from Pandemic

Published Thursday, 06 August 2020

Businesses in Ribble Valley can apply for a slice of £450,000 to help them recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

But you are advised to act fast, as demand for the discretionary grants of up to £10,000 is expected to be high.

Ribble Valley Borough Council received an additional £867,750 to support the borough’s small businesses following the pandemic.

The funding is aimed at businesses not eligible for assistance from the Small Business or Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Funds, who can demonstrate they have suffered a significant fall in income because of the pandemic, have significant ongoing fixed property-related costs and meet several other criteria.

Over 80 small businesses in Ribble Valley have been assisted in two funding rounds so far and now a third funding round for the final £450,000 goes live tomorrow (Thursday, August 6).

The scheme is now also open to businesses with a rateable value over £51,000 in the retail, hospitality or leisure industry and in receipt of the expanded retail discount on their business rates bill.

Grants of between £1,500 and £10,000 are available on a first-come-first-served basis and early application is advised, as demand is expected to be high.

Applicants must have been trading on March 11, 2020, and not received any other Government funding.

Further details on the grants and an online form are available at ‘Covid-19 Business Support’ at https://www.ribblevalley.gov.uk/discretionarygrant#DiscretionaryGrantsFund

Government guidance on other pandemic business support is available at gov.uk.
