Artists Invited to Take Part in Unique Shopping Event

Published Friday, 18 October 2013

Artists and craftspeople are invited to show off their skills and sell their wares at a unique Christmas shopping event in Clitheroe.

The Platform Gallery and Visitor Information Centre on Station Road is inviting artists to showcase and sell their work during one of three weeklong shopping events for just £19.50.

Four exhibitors will be selected to take part from December 2 to 8, 9 to 15 and 16 to 22.

Ribble Valley Borough Council's arts development officer, Katherine Rodgers, said: "This is a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their talents and sell their goods directly to the public during a time of peak footfall.

"At the same time, shoppers can see some of the North West's most accomplished craftspeople at work and buy unique pieces directly from them.

"Last year's winter shopping showcase featured some excellent artists and craftspeople, and there was a great atmosphere.

"This year, the makers will also be demonstrating the techniques and skills that go into creating their unique work."

The Platform Gallery and Clitheroe Visitor Information Centre attracts up to 200 visitors per week over the festive period.

Participants will be required to demonstrate their skills on at least one day and products must be made in the UK.

The deadline for applications is Tuesday 22 October, and further information and the application form is available from the Platform Gallery exhibition opportunities.
