Public Asked Their Views on Enterprise Zone

Published Friday, 25 October 2013

A public consultation has started into the proposed Lancashire Enterprise Zone at Samlesbury and Warton.

The consultation, run by Ribble Valley and South Ribble Borough Councils, runs until Thursday 28 November.

Letters are currently being sent to households, businesses and parish councils in the vicinity of the zone, which will be divided between Samlesbury in Ribble Valley and South Ribble, and Warton in Fylde.

There will also be a public meeting at the Canberra Club, BAE Systems, Samlesbury, on Tuesday 12 November, starting at 7.00pm.

The proposed zone will focus on the engineering and manufacturing sectors, and form a centre of excellence for technology.

A masterplan for the zone has been drawn up to establish its strategic objectives and consider a number of key matters, including access, transport and travel to the site, utilities, design, landscaping and ecology.

Ribble Valley Borough Council leader Stuart Hirst said: "The Lancashire Enterprise Zone is a major development for the Ribble Valley and South Ribble boroughs, and we want members of the public to have their say."
