Gallery Showcase for Lancashire CraftsPublished Thursday, 30 January 2014
Craftworkers who live and work in the North West have the chance to exhibit their work at the popular Platform Gallery in Clitheroe.
The Station Road gallery will host a Craft Open from May to July featuring the work of craftspeople from Lancashire, Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Merseyside.
Any type of craftwork will be considered for the exhibition, including woven, stitched, felted and constructed textiles, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork, furniture, glass, calligraphy and mixed media.
Work can be two or three-dimensional, must be well crafted and of an original, contemporary design, and made in the last 12 months.
A variety of prizes are up for grabs, including the Selectors' Prize for Innovation offering the winning Ribble Valley exhibitor their own showcase at the gallery in 2015. There will also be a People's Choice Prize following a public vote by visitors to the exhibition.
Up to three pieces may be submitted for a £10 entry fee and the deadline is Saturday 29 March.
Platform Gallery supervisor Stephanie Hibbert said: "The Craft Open is a fantastic opportunity for local craftspeople to exhibit their work at a leading Lancashire gallery.
"We know there is a rich artistic heritage in Lancashire and some fantastically talented craftspeople, so we are looking forward to a superb exhibition."
The Craft Open will run from 3 May to 12 July.
