New Rural Think Tank for Ribble Valley

Published Thursday, 17 April 2014

Over 50 people attended a new rural think tank hosted by Ribble Valley Borough Council.

The Ribble Valley Rural Forum, organised in partnership with the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Council for Voluntary Service, considered a range of issues facing rural communities and groups, particularly sources of potential funding.

Speakers from funding bodies outlined the financial support available for a range of community projects, from kitchen refurbishments to new village halls.

Representatives of the Grindleton Pavilion and Gisburn Festival Hall also shared their experiences of raising funds for their respective successful community projects.

Ribble Valley Borough Council partnership officer Dilys Day said: “The forum aimed to provide an opportunity to discuss issues specific to rural communities, with a focus on the voluntary, community and faith sectors.

“It was also an opportunity to network and meet people who may be able to assist with project development, as well as share information and knowledge.

“The forum was a great success and well attended, and we hope it will become a bi-annual event, acting as a bridge between community groups and statutory bodies.”

Further information on the forum or help for community projects is available from Dilys Day on 01200 414549.
