Still Time to Nominate Sports and Community Stars

Published Wednesday, 02 July 2014

Ribble Valley residents still have time to nominate their sporting heroes and community champions.

Nominations for the 2014 Ribble Valley Sports and Community Awards are open until Friday 11 July.

Nominations can be made in the following categories: Club of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, Adult Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year and School of the Year. There are also special awards for Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement and Community Engagement.

Peter Fletcher, Ribble Valley Borough Council’s sports development officer, said: “The awards are a fantastic opportunity for sports clubs, coaches and volunteers, to get the recognition they deserve for their hard work and commitment, and we are asking as many people, clubs and organisations as possible to make nominations.

“In order for the awards to be a success, we rely on clubs, coaches, players, parents, teachers and friends to nominate people who deserve to be recognised for their contribution to community sport.”

The awards will be presented in August, with the winners representing Ribble Valley at the Lancashire Sports Awards in October.

Further information and nominations packs are available on 01200 425111.
