Clitheroe Retail Redevelopment Moves a Step Closer

Published Tuesday, 21 October 2014

Expressions of interest are sought from developers interested in redeveloping Clitheroe Market.

Research into the viability of the proposed redevelopment was presented to Ribble Valley Borough Council, which owns the site, in June.

Now the process to select a development partner in line with the council’s procurement procedures is underway.

Expressions of interest in developing the market site are invited by noon on Friday, October 31, after which there will be a tendering process.

Colin Hirst, Ribble Valley Borough Council’s head of housing and regeneration, said: “Expressions of interest are invited for the redevelopment of the Clitheroe Market site, including the relocation and rationalisation of the market, complementary parking and access to the town centre.

“We are looking for practical and imaginative proposals that bring forward significant new retail space to attract quality operators with complementary tourism and leisure development, such as a hotel.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring modern retail and leisure facilities to Clitheroe town centre, and the proposed scheme is generating strong interest.”

Detailed proposals for the site are expected to be in place by next March, with the final plan unveiled next September.

Interested parties are asked to view Clitheroe Town Centre Market Redevelopment Area or to contact Colin Hirst on 01200 425111.
