New Hub Points the Way for Ribble Valley Residents

Published Tuesday, 27 January 2015

Ribble Valley residents at a loose end can check out a new community directory, Signpost, on the borough council web site.

And groups in Ribble Valley are invited to spread the word about their activities via the new hub.

Signpost features links to a Community Groups Directory, Ribble Valley Club Hub and What’s On.

The Community Groups Directory outlines dozens of groups and clubs across Ribble Valley offering a host of hobbies, interests, sports and pastimes. The easy-to-use directory contains search boxes and online forms for groups looking to add activities or update their details.

The Ribble Valley Club Hub features comprehensive information on sports clubs throughout the borough, including contact details, the club’s coaches, where and when the club meets and web site and social media links.

The What’s On showcases Ribble Valley’s vibrant and active social scene, featuring a wide variety of events across the borough organised by the council, local businesses, voluntary organisations and community groups.

Ribble Valley Borough Council’s partnership officer, Dilys Day, said: “Many rural residents, particularly the young and elderly, can suffer from loneliness and social isolation as a result of poor access to services and public transport.

“Signpost aims to point them in the direction of information on a wide range of activities available at locations throughout the borough, with the addition of a directory allowing community groups to publicise their activities.”

Ribble Valley Signpost is available at www.ribblevalley.gov.uk/signpost.
