Published Wednesday, 11 February 2015

Craftworkers have the chance to showcase their work at the popular Platform Gallery in Clitheroe.

The Station Road gallery will host its annual Craft Open featuring the work of craftspeople from Lancashire and Yorkshire from Saturday 25 April to Saturday 4 July.

Any type of craftwork will be considered for the exhibition, including woven, stitched, felted and constructed textiles, ceramics, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork, furniture, glass, calligraphy and mixed media.

Work can be two or three-dimensional, must be well crafted and of an original, contemporary design, and made in the last 12 months. Up to three pieces may be submitted for a £10 entry fee and the deadline is Friday 20 March 2015.

A variety of prizes are up for grabs, including the Selectors’ Prize for Innovation offering the winning exhibitor their own showcase at the gallery. There will also be a People’s Choice Prize and Ribble Valley Prize.

Platform Gallery supervisor Stephanie Hibbert said: “The Craft Open is a fantastic opportunity for local craftspeople to exhibit their work at a leading Northern gallery.

“We know there is a rich artistic heritage and some fantastically talented craftspeople in Lancashire and Yorkshire, so we are looking forward to a superb exhibition.”

Further details and application packs are available from the Platform Gallery on 01200 425566.
