Forum Showcases Digital Technology in Rural Communities

Published Thursday, 24 September 2015

Digital technology comes under the spotlight at the next meeting of the Ribble Valley Rural Forum.

The forum, from 9.30am to 1pm on Wednesday 14 October, will offer insights into fibre broadband, how to use social media and tips and ideas on starting community web sites.

It will also include presentations by digital media company Scruffy Monkey and broadband company Superfast Lancashire.

Ribble Valley Borough Council partnership officer Dilys Day said: “Like it or not, digital technology is here to stay and the good news is that it can be of real benefit to rural communities.

“This forum will offer a host of information and advice for community groups looking to increase and improve their use of digital technology, as well as the latest news on funding.”

The Ribble Valley Rural Forum takes place twice a year and showcases issues affecting rural communities, with a focus on the voluntary, community and faith sectors, as well as providing a bridge between communities and the statutory bodies that serve them.

It is also an opportunity to network and meet people who may be able to assist with project development, as well as share information and knowledge.

The forum will meet at the Ribble Valley Borough Council Chamber in Church Street, Clitheroe, and attendance is free, but booking is required. Further details are available from Dilys Day on 01200 414549.
